ODESSA, TX — Jamie Berryhill Wednesday announced that Jane Hext, wife of the late Odessa mayor Billy Hext and former Director of the Hext Family Foundation, has endorsed his campaign for Congress according to a press release.
"The Hext family has demonstrated the heart and soul of the City of Odessa and the Greater Permian Basin region and are long-time friends of mine," said Berryhill. "It is an honor to have the endorsement of one of Odessa's most honored and respected matriarchs who, like myself, believes that our country will crumble under the weight of a bloated government unless we bring Christ-centered principles and West Texas values to Washington. It is a blessing to know Jane supports my efforts to bring these values to Congress when I am elected."
"I've known Jamie and Renda for a long time, and I love and respect them very much," Hext said. "Jamie is a man of God that wants the best for the people and for our country. He is smart and will serve us well as our U.S. Congressman."
Billy Hext served Odessa as city councilman in 1998, then as mayor of Odessa two years later. He passed away from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2001. Both Billy and Jane have given back to their community through the Hext Family Foundation and Heritage Family Limited Partnership to further the advancement of cancer research and promote vocational education and Christ-centered charities.
