SAN ANGELO, TX – Today is the last day to file for Police Chief in San Angelo. With that the question remains, who will be on the police chief ballot?
According to the City of San Angelo, the filing period for candidates began on January 15 and will continue through 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. In order to become a candidate in the City of San Angelo you must be a US citizen, 18 years or older, have to be in a capable mental state, and not be convicted of a felony. For Police Chief, you must have been a resident of the City of San Angelo for at least two years prior to the election.
Current Police Chief Frank Carter is the only person who has filed for the office. With this being the last day for filing, questions around San Angelo have come up about others candidates.

The current Sheriff of Tom Green County David Jones announced that this will be his last term as sheriff. Two people filed to run for Tom Green County Sheriff. Keith Muncey and Nick Hanna have both filed to be in the Republican Primary on March 3. The winner of primary will be running unopposed in the November general election.

To be eligible to vote in the police chief election, San Angelo residents must be registered by April 2. Voter registration applications are available at the Tom Green County Election/Voter Registration Office on the first floor of the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave. Applications can also be obtained online at VoteTomGreenCounty.org, by mail or by calling 325-659-6541. Completed applications can be returned in person or by mail.
The Police Chief election will be held May 2.
