17-Year-Old Charged with January Murder

ODESSA, TX – Officers with the Odessa Police Department made an arrest in the murder and aggravated assault of two men at the end of January. 

According to the OPD, on January 26, officers responded to 3701 East Highway 80 in reference to two gunshot victims. Investigation revealed that after an altercation occurred, an unknown male shot two 18-year-old males before fleeing the scene.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital. One of the victims was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel and the second victim was reported in critical condition.

After weeks of investigation,The Odessa Police Department has charged Johnathen Payen Sanchez, date of birth 06/23/2002, in connection to a murder that occurred last month in Southeast Odessa.

Sanchez was arrested this past weekend in Lubbock by the United States Marshal Service and Lubbock Police Department. More arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
