SAN ANGELO, TX — Can a new Republican politician save Congressional District 23 from falling into Democrat control in the November Election?
A retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer named Tony Gonzales thinks he is he one to fill retiring GOP representative Will Hurd’s shoes.
CD-23, a sprawling district extending from suburban western San Antonio through Eagle Pass, Del Rio, Fort Stockton, Alpine, and into suburban eastern El Paso along the Texas-Mexico border, is a prize eyed by the Democrats as a potential congressional district to flip. To make their advance on changing Texas from red to blue, they have Gina Ortiz Jones. She’s a far left candidate, Gonzales said, and she lost to Will Hurd in 2018 by only 926 votes in 2018.
Fundraising, Jones has raised $2.5 million from all over the country. Gonzales has raised just $385,364.17 as of the latest Federal Election Commission filings.
In the video interview above, Gonzales talks about winning the nomination on March 3 and how he will defeat Jones in November.
