SHERIFF: Meth Dealer Arrested During Routine Traffic Stop

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office said they caught a drug dealer this morning.

A 27-year-old woman, Channing Tate, was booked into the Tom Green County Jail after Deputy William Kirkland and a San Angelo Police Department K9 found 27 syringes preloaded with a total of 9.8 grams of methamphetamine along with a second stash in a plastic bag containing 1.2 grams of more meth. The Deputy also found 58 more empty syringes.

The discovery happened during a routine traffic stop. The Sheriff said that Tate was deceptive and that led the Deputy to suspect criminal activity. With probable cause, Kirkland called for assistance from a K9 unit with the San Angelo police. The dog alerted the officers that there were likely narcotics in the vehicle.

Tate was arrested for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance between 4 grams and 200 grams. If convicted of the Second Degree Felony, Tate faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. She is being held at the Tom Green County Jail where her bond is set at $50,000.
