Cisco Police Chief Steps Down Unexpectedly

CISCO, TX – The Cisco Police Department is looking for a new chief after Chief Gregory Scott McAuley resigned on Friday.

According to KTXS, in his resignation letter, McAuley stated: “I feel this is the best interest of my family and I at this time."

In his letter he thanked the City of Cisco for the opportunity to serve them for over two years as chief of police. McAuley became chief in 2017 and has over 35 years of experience in law enforcement. Before moving to Cisco he served as chief at Seagraves Police Department for three years and at the Arp Police Department, where he served 27 years as chief.

When he moved to Cisco McAuley posted on social media explaining that the move would put him “closer to my children and grandchildren.”

McAuley is originally from Monahans and studied Criminal Justice at Tyler Junior College.

McAuley provided no further details regarding his decision to step down and in the meantime, a sergeant and lieutenant will be handling his duties while City Manager Darwin Archer will be handling the administrative duties of the position.
