West Texas Weather: All 4 Seasons This Weekend?

SAN ANGELO, TX – West Texas weather is famous for changing rapidly and long time residents joke about it.  

The Concho Valley could see all four seasons this weekend if current weather models are accurate. 

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, the southeastern counties could see severe thunderstorms and even an isolated tornado this afternoon while the northwestern counties could see snow flurries tonight. 

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop east of a Throckmorton to Sonora line this afternoon. Some storms could be strong to severe, with large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible. Highest severe weather risk will be east of an Eastland to Junction line. Expect deadly lightning with any storms. Also, locally heavy rainfall could produce a threat of hydroplaning, with localized ponding of water on roads.

There is also a chance for a wintry mix of light snow and rain north of a Sterling City to Coleman line after midnight tonight. Little to no snow accumulation is expected. However, a few slick spots could develop on some bridges and overpasses. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected across the western Concho Valley and Northern Edwards Plateau this afternoon.

Over the weekend, Expect cold and breezy conditions early Saturday morning, with wind chills in the upper teens to low 20s in the Big Country, and low to mid 20s in the Concho Valley and Heartland.

The forecast calls for partly sunny skies today with a high around 70 and winds gusting to 30 mph. 

Tonight expect partly cloudy, with a low around 35. Windy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph becoming north northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.  On Saturday expect sunny skies with a high near 55. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Sunday it'll be sunny, with a high near 66. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
