Former Taylor Co. Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Crash With Fellow Deputy's Vehicle

SAN JACINTO, TX – A former Taylor County corrections officer was killed after his vehicle crashed with another sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle in Coldspring.

According to KTXS, Bryan Pfluger, a deputy with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, was responding to a burglary call when the crash occurred. According to Greg Capers, the San Jacinto County Sheriff, Pfluger was ejected and thrown around 50 feet when the vehicle rolled.

Pfluger was taken to the hospital in Livingston where he later succumbed to his injuries. According to local news media, Pfluger’s body will be escorted to the medical examiner’s office in Beaumont for an autopsy. Sheriff Capers stated Pfluger will be accompanied by a member of law enforcement around the clock until his body is returned to San Jacinto County.

Deputy Pfluger was the son of a retired trooper and has been a sheriff’s deputy for the past four years. He is survived by his wife and a new baby. 

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office made the following statement on social media: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Deputy Bryan Pfluger."

DPS Troopers will be investigating the crash. The other deputy involved in the crash is expected to recover from his physical injuries.
