Police are seeking information on the driver of a Lincoln four-door sedan, who struck a disabled female on Upton St. this morning and fled the scene.
The hit and run ocurred around 7:49 a.m. at north Bell and the 1500 block Upton St., when a male driving a Lincoln east on Upton hit the 47-year-old victim, who was walking westbound on Upton with the assistance of a walker.
The suspect stopped to check on the woman, and as he approached her, he said something to the effect of, 'I don't want you to file any charges or call the police because I have a record and I have a family,' police said.
The woman then asked him to go over to a nearby apartment complex to call the authorities, and he got up and began walking in that direction, then got back in his vehicle and sped away heading east on Upton Street and turned right in the area of the Dunbar.
When someone nearby heard the woman screaming, the witness looked out and saw her laying in the street and promptly called the police. The victim and the witness described the vehicle as having a light metallic color, possibly gold, silver or brown. There was no front license plate and both noted a Chevy emblem on the back.
A witness also confirmed that although the vehicle had a Chevy emblem, the make and model resembled a Lincoln. The back license plate may have a “7” in the middle and an “8” towards the end. The vehicle may also have small dents above the front left headlight.
The driver was described as a man in his 20s, possibly 25, with shoulder-length straight light brown hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a dirty gray T-Shirt, blue jeans, and tan work boots.
The woman sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and has been hospitalized. Her current condition is unknown.
