Beloved Jaguar at the Abilene Zoo Dying from Rare Form of Cancer

ABILENE, TX -- The Abilene Zoo has released heart breaking news today that a four-year-old Jaguar has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. 

According to the Abilene Zoo, Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Stephanie Carle has diagnosed Estralla, the four year old Jaguar, with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. 

"This isn't typical leukemia you see in house cats,” stated Abilene Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Stephanie Carle, "This is an extremely rare form of cancer, even in humans."

The Vet says that with Estralla's cancer and hyper-viscosity syndrome that she can experience headaches, Vertigo, eye problems, and even possibly seizures. 

The big cat is now receiving hospice and will be kept as comfortable as possible. 

Treatment is near impossible with an animal this size but Carle says she is continuing discussions with Estralla's Oncologist.
