Commissioners: Burn Ban Reinstated Immediately

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Commissioners wasted no time reinstating the burn ban Tuesday morning after volunteer firefighters battled numerous wildfires almost daily after the ban was lifted one week ago.

Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd said volunteer firefighters had responded to several wildfire calls especially in the Quail Valley area north of San Angelo.

Pct. 4 Commissioner Bill Ford quickly made the motion to reinstate the burn ban effective immediately.

Pct. 2 Commissioner Sammy Farmer seconded the motion and the ban on outdoor burning will be in effect for 90 days or until the county receives significant rainfall.

Tuesday morning's action authorizes Judge Floyd or the Commissioners Court to lift the burn ban if they determine the danger has passed.
