SAN ANGELO, TX -- The mainstream brand Johnson & Johnson has called for a voluntary recall of baby powder after allegations of asbestos.
According to CBS 7, J&J received a complaint after a bottle that was purchased from an unnamed online retailer contained chrysotile asbestos.
The FDA says that they found the asbestos in one lot labeled #22318RB. If you have a bottle with this number on it discontinue use immediately.
Johnson & Johnson told CBS 7 that they “have a rigorous testing standard in place to ensure its cosmetic talc is safe and after years of testing, including the FDA's own testing on prior occasions--and as recently as last month--found no asbestos.”
As this point 33,000 bottles have been recalled. If you have any questions you can contact (866)565-2229.
