CHRISTOVAL, TX – Dozens of Christoval residents and stake holders gathered Saturday morning in the upper baseball field at Pugh Park in Christoval to break ground on a new $1.2 million complex.
Tom Green County Commissioner Bill Ford secured a $1.2 milliion Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant for improvements to the historic park which will include a regulation sized baseball field for Christoval High School, a regulation girls softball field, a 3.5 mile cross country trail, bathrooms, fencing, lighting and a pavillion.

The project will cost more than the $1.2 million grant and they have already started a fundraising campaign.
Following the groundbreaking ceremony Saturday attendees were invited to a nearby ranch to view a power point presentation about the project.
An area rancher donated water from the south Concho River to water the fields in the park. The Christoval ISD is also a participant in the project.
Christoval High School is across the street from Pugh Park.
