ABILENE, TX — Abilene Police Officers witnessed a drive-by shooting Sunday while waiting to serve a search and arrest warrant in Abilene.
According to reports from KTXS, officers were waiting in front of Lo Lyfe Customs to serve the warrant to 36 year old Benjamin Yarger when a car pulled up and fired shots into another car.
The officers had been waiting since about 5:00 p.m., according to Chief Stan Stanbridge, until a vehicle pulled into Lo Lyfe Customs after crossing four lanes of traffic between 9 and 9:30 p.m.
Someone in the vehicle fired a "high caliber shoulder fired weapon" several times into another vehicle hitting one person twice.
The victim was taken to Hendrick medical Center with the extent of their injuries unknown.
The vehicle with the gunman then drove off towards Dyess. Police have taken Yarger and one other individual into custody and detained four others.
Lo Lyfe Customs was believed to be stealing property and selling it along with narcotics. Police had been waiting in the wood line across the street for "key personnel" to arrive when the shooting took place.
