ASU PD Warns Students After Spike in Bicycle Thefts

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Angelo State University's Police department has sent out a notice warning students of recent bicycle thefts.

According to the ASU PD, on September 23, University Police are investigating several recent bicycle thefts. The thefts are occurring around residence halls. Bicycles have been reported taken from Centennial Village and Texan Hall.

Students are urged to be vigilant and IMMEDIATELY report any suspicious activity in or around campus bike racks. Bicycles should always be locked up when not in use. Police recommend using a U bolt style locking mechanism as opposed to cable locks. U bolt locks are much more difficult to defeat than cable locks.

Students are also reminded to lock their vehicles when unattended and remove any valuables.

If you have any information regarding these thefts, please contact Sgt. Villarreal at (325) 942-2071.
