SAN ANGELO, TX — Decrying the abundance of the methamphetamine drug destroying many lives in Tom Green County, 51st District Attorney strongly recommended the jury give Andres Rios Ramirez life in prison for his conviction yesterday of murdering Camille Garcia.
In court testimony during the punishment phase of the trial today, jurors learned Garcia was a young mother of 3 who lost her way, getting caught up in San Angelo’s gang culture and addicted to meth. She lost her home and kids and was helplessly hopping from house to house in San Angelo. She was described in previous court proceedings as having worked as a stripper in San Angelo.
DA Palmer argued yesterday in her closing argument that Ramirez viewed Garcia as “disposable” when he pointed a 9 mm handgun point blank at the side of her head as she rested on his couch and shot her. He then disposed of her body in a dumpster 8 miles north on the edge of town.
Defense attorney Kirk Hawkins agreed the meth epidemic in San Angelo was a “horrible problem for our community” but pleaded with the jury to sentence Ramirez to 25 years in prison, the minimum.
“Don’t throw his life away,” Hawkins said. He asked for 25 years where Ramirez will have to serve 12.5 years before parole eligibility.
The DA decided before the trial began not to pursue the death penalty in this case. The costs of a capital murder trial are substantial for taxpayers while a punishment for just murder carries a maximum of life or 99 years in prison sentence.
Ramirez is 32 years old. A 99-year prison sentence would mean he’d have to live to the age of 131 before seeing freedom. Or the jury can sentence Ramirez to life in prison.

PermalinkWhy does someone always feel the need to bring this disgusting crap up? It almost makes me wonder if the poster also needs a little Carmex. Filth is filth, regardless of the forum.

Sorry, but homeless, drug addicted gangsters become such because they've chosen to do so, not because they've "lost their way" and suddenly woke up one morning with jailhouse tatt's, a bloodstream full of meth and panties full of multiple men's DNA.
"Disposable" was possibly the only word the D.A. used, which truly illustrates such a person.
