Midland ISD and Snyder ISD Facing Potential State Take-Over

AUSTIN, TX -- Two West Texas school are being threatened with state take-over after poor school performance. 

According to CBS 7, the Texas Education Commissioners has sent a notice to four schools in Texas that stated their school districts may get taken over by the Texas Education Agency due to an overwhelming number of failing grades. 

Midland ISD, Snyder ISD, Sherpard ISD, and Houston ISD were all sent the notices. 

This year the TEA gave MISD an over all C grade, but the district went from four failing schools last year, back to nine this year.

Snyder ISD's junior high school a received their fifth consecutive failing ratings this year.

I can't help but wonder if the State has a track record of taking over under-performing schools and turning them into top performers. It seems to me that a state takeover would be another debacle, heavily wrapped in red tape.
Any teachers out there that can cite any examples?
