BRADY, TX – The Texas Department of Transportation is taking its "Plan to Win" virtual reality experience to the World Championship BBQ Goat Cookoff Labor Day Weekend in Brady, TX.
According to TxDOT, the "Plan to Win" interactive virtual reality experience will be at the Cookoff to demonstrate the dangers of drunk driving.
The campaign features a virtual reality game which quizzes and educates participants on the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving.
Players engaged in the immersive virtual reality experience while screens show their experience to an audience outside.
Last year during the Labor Day weekend, there were 328 crashes in Texas involving drivers under the influence of alcohol.
According to TxDOT information, since Nov. 8, 2000 at least one person has died on Texas roadways every single day.
The "Plan to Win" virtual reality experience will be open Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Richards Park at the Cookoff in Brady.
The 46th annual World Championship BBQ Goat Cookoff runs Friday through Sunday in Richards Park in Brady.
Friday's events include a washer pitching tournament at 5:30 p.m with cooker registration from 6 to 8 p.m. and a welcome dance with Cooper Wade from 8 to midnight.
Saturday's events get underway at 7:30 a.m. with the Goat Gallop 5K fun run and walk. Gates open at 9 a.m. with horseshoe and washer pitching tournaments at 9:30 a.m.
There is a Texas Beer and Wine Tasting with goat tasting from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a margarita judging contest at 5 p.m.
There is also a bloody mary judging competition Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
