NWS: Flood Advisory Issued for Mertzon, Christoval and Menard

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A flood advisory is in effect for the Mertzon, Christoval anbd Menard areas Monday morning. 

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, an Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory has been issued for South central Tom Green County in west central Texas, Southeastern Irion County until 11:45 a.m. At 9:48 a.m.doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and isolated thunderstorms from Knickerbocker to Mertzon 1.2 inches has fallen 2 miles northwest of Mertzon and radar has estimated 1.5 inches in several locations just north of Knickerbocker and Sherwood.

This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding in the advisory area.  Some locations that will experience flooding include  Mertzon, Knickerbocker, Tankersley, Sherwood and US 67 Near The Irion-Tom Green County Line.

This includes the following low water crossings at RM 853 crossing Dry Draw County Road 202 crossing Lopez Creek,  County Road 202 crossing Spring Creek and Sherwood Cemetery crossing. Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway.
