NWS: Flood Advisory Issued for San Angelo Sunday Morning

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a flood advisory for San Angelo, Robert Lee and Sterling City until 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning. 

At 6:24 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms from Sterling City to Robert Lee then south to Grape Creek and San Angelo.

Movement was northeast at 15 mph. Up to 2 inches are likely from these storms. San Angelo could pick up up to 1 inch.

The airport in San Angelo picked up 0.41 inches in less than 20 minutes. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.  

Some locations that will experience flooding include San Angelo, Robert Lee, Blackwell, Bronte, Wall, E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area, Grape Creek, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Veribest, Sanco, Lake Nasworthy, Orient, San Angelo State Park, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Water Valley, Carlsbad, Silver, Broome, O.c. Fisher Reservoir and Tennyson.

This includes the following low water crossings at Howard and Webster, Southwest Blvd and Loop 306, Jackson From Knickerbocker to South Bryant, College Hills and Millbrook, FM 2334 crossing Dry Lipan Creek.

Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway.

The rain is expected to end Sunday morning with clearing Sunday afternoon.
