Ladder 1, two pumper trucks, Fire Rescue, and the EMS crew on Medic 10 responded to a small fire in a residential backyard on the 1400 block of Spaulding Street Thursday at approximately 4:30 p.m.
When LIVE! arrived, firefighters were extinguishing the backyard shed fire. However, damage could be seen on the house structure too, so firefighters went inside the house to investigate.
While the firefighters were cleaning up the scene, Spaulding street was blocked between the 1300 and 1400 blocks. Two San Angelo police units were providing traffic control.

Update 5:26 p.m.
Fire Marshal Ross Coleman briefed LIVE! on the fire. “Two rear out buildings for storage were in the backyard. One building caught fire, spread to the second outside building, and then the house,” he said.
Coleman said that the occupant of the residence had been using a barbeque grill in the area where the fire broke out, but at this point investigators are not sure if that was the cause.
A brother and sister were in the home when the fire broke out.
Coleman’s colleague, Fire marshal Thomas Truett was the investigator.
Update August 15, 7:30 a.m. (Final)
The Fire Marshal confirmed that this fire began when a spark from a barneque grill ignited a small area of grass near the first shed and the shed was soon engulfed in flames. The fire spread to the next shed, and then the house.
