Free Fishing in Texas This Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has announced that this Saturday will be Free Fishing Day.

On June 1 you will be able to fish anywhere in the state without a license.

The TPWD is aiming to show people who don't normally fish the fun it can be to real in a big fish.

Popular places around the area to fish is Lake Nasworthy, O.C Fisher, the Concho River, as well as others.

If you are wanting to fish at Twin Buttes you still have to have a "Limited Public Use permit." You need one of these permits if you want to fish, hike, camp, or picnic.

The City of San Angelo is also putting on an event for Free Fishing Day. They will be hosting a fishing derby for kids ages one to seventeen. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Celebration Bridge. Trophies will be handed out to the person caught the largest fish and the person that catches the most fish.

Since you mentioned the need for a permit to fish Twin Buttes, it would be a nice touch to add where they may be purchased and their cost. Journalism 101.......
