San Angelo ISD "Monitoring the Weather"; Big Country Schools Releasing Early

SAN ANGELO, TX -- With another round of potentially devastating storms forecast to hit San Angelo today, San Angelo ISD assures they're prepared to take whatever action needed.

In a Facebook post on Monday, San Angelo ISD said they're "monitoring the weather closely, so we can make decisions that keep staff and students safe."

"When inclement weather is expected, we maintain constant contact with the National Weather Service, TxDOT, the Texas Department of Public Safety and other local agencies," the district continued. "Campuses regularly practice weather drills so that if inclement weather occurs, students and staff know the procedures to stay safe."

School districts in the Big Country have already pulled the trigger to release students early ahead of the forecast severe weather.

KTXS reports that Abilene, Wylie, Jim Ned, Merkel and Snyder ISDs have released or will release their students early.

So far, no Concho Valley school districts have made a public announcement to release early.

San Angelo ISD closed out their statement with a reminder to keep an eye on local news reports.

"We will continue to post informations to the SAISD website and social media channels; and local news outlets will be notified," they said. "Please tune to any of these sources for potential changes to the regular school schedule."
