SAN ANGELO, TX -- Cassi Walden Photography honored one NICU nurse and an elementary school teacher on Tuesday for National Teacher and Nurses Appreciation week.
National Teacher and Nurses Appreciation week began last week on May 6 and went up until May 10. During this time Cassi Walden with Cassi Walden Photography wanted to honor one nurse and one teacher. She made a post and asked followers to tag their favorite teacher and to say thanks to them. She then picked two winners and gave them a Starbucks gift card as well as a photography session.
The first winner was a NICU nurse that works at Community Medical Center, Erica Martinez. Erica is from Winters and went to Nursing School in Lubbock. She is a Registered Nurse, has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech, is trained in Basic Life Support, and also has a NRP. "In our line of work, it’s definitely the most amazing thing to see the joy of helping a first time parent with their new baby or being there when they hold their baby for the first time after being in the NICU for a week." said Erica after being asked what her favorite part of being a nurse. "Nothing will ever be more rewarding than knowing you made an impact on someone’s life!"
The second recipient is 1st Grade Teacher at Goliad Elementary. Brooke Davis was born in San Antonio before going to Texas Tech and receiving a Bachelors Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies. Brooke knew when she was young that she was meant to be a teacher. "I knew I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I always enjoyed school growing up and as I became older, I developed a passion for working with children, said Brooke. "I wanted other children to develop the live of learning that I have and help shape productive and successful individuals."
