Del Rio’s Mayor Caught on Video in Happy Dance for High School Graduates

DEL RIO, TX — Mayor Bruno “Ralphy” Lozano can dance. That’s how his latest video for constituent consumption on the official Mayor of Del Rio Facebook page presented the new mayor.

In the video, after the mayor’s secretary drops a folder of papers on his desk addressing the mayor as “Your Honor”, Mayor Lozano breaks into a two-minute dance to music. At the end, he salutes the 2019 graduating class of Del Rio High School.

The video was produced with two cameras shooting from two separate angles as the mayor danced.

Lozano was elected mayor in May 2018 by a wide margin, defeating Robert Garza. During the campaign, photos appeared of Lozano, a U.S. Air Force veteran, prancing in a Veteran’s Day parade in drag. After his election, LGBTQ publications took up his story for the accomplishment of being an openly gay man winning an election for mayor of a West Texas city. Del Rio is located on the Texas border with Mexico, 144 miles due west of San Antonio.
