Woman Indicted After Driving Drunk with Child and Dog in the Car

SAN ANGELO, TX – A New Braunfels woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in March after she was pulled over for driving while intoxicated with her daughter and dog inside the car.

On Jan. 4, 2019 a Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety pulled over a red passenger car driving down US 87 in a 65 mph zone for driving 79 mph. The trooper spoke with the driver and learned that her name was Rebecca Shepherd-Price and that her 3-year-old daughter and dog were inside the car.

According to the affidavit the trooper noticed her eyes were glassed over and blood shot. He also smelled a strong smell of alcohol coming from Price. She was then asked to step outside of the vehicle with the trooper.

Price told the trooper that she had consumed alcohol the night before but that she hadn't had any alcohol that day. The trooper then conducted a field sobriety test and he believed that she was drunk. He then asked for her to take a breathalyzer test but she refused to take it.

Child Protective Services was called to take the child and the dog. The trooper arrested Price, searched the vehicle, and found an alcoholic beverage pushed between the seat and the console.

Price is charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15. Her initial pre-trial is set for May 7.
