WATCH: Assorted Wood Pieces Turned Into Cherished Treasures

SAN ANGELO, TX - Call it putting their own spin on things as the Concho Valley Wood Turners create handcrafted pieces from assorted pieces of wood.

"Several of the pieces on display look like they came from your fire pile," said Concho Valley Wood Turner Chuck Rood.

Traditional Wood Workers are known for building pieces from scratch which can take time, but according to Rood woodturning is different.

"You turn wood and you get instant gratification," said Rood. "Instead of months of building something you can do it in a couple of hours."

What puts a unique spin on woodturning is how just about any piece of wood can be used.

"Here a lot of people like working with mesquite because it's abundant," exclaimed Rood. "The field is open. If you find a piece of wood just laying on the street you'd be amazed what can be turned out of it."
