SAN ANGELO, TX -- A troubled San Angelo woman who was accused of stabbing a Cavender's Western Outfitter store employee while allegedly shoplifting was sentenced to prison Tuesday.
Valarie Mae Geuea, now 20-years-old, took a plea deal offered by prosecutors in exchange for a guilty plea.
As we reported last November, Geuea was in a dressing room at Cavender's when an employee heard what sounded like her taking sensors from clothing.
The employee, Erik Garza, asked Geuea to stop as she was attempting to exit the store. According to court documents, Geuea then moved to the other exit door and was again asked to stop.
Garza said Geuea asked him to move out of her way and he refused. Geruea then produced a black handle knife and pointed it at Garza and stated, "Move out of my way or I'll f---ing stab you!"
She then swung the knife at him stabbing him in the abdomen.
Geuea then fled the scene in a black Toyota Camry. She was later found and arrested at the McDonald's restaurant on Southwest Blvd. The stolen items were not recovered.
Geuea was on probation at the time for possession of a controlled substance.
Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Geuea pleaded guilty to the aggravated robbery charge and true to a motion to revoke her probation in exchange for a prison sentence of seven years.
She was also sentenced to 365 days in prison on the possession charge and given 328 days credit for time served. She was also ordered to pay $180 in restitution and fined $500 on the possession charge.
There was an unindicted charge of burglary of a habitation which was refused by prosecutors as part of the plea deal.
Geuea was given 137 days credit for time served on the seven year sentence.
She was remanded to the custody of the Tom Green County Sheriff and taken back to jail to begin her sentence.

PermalinkShe'll be out in 4 years or less, and within a year of garnering freedom, she'll most likely be robbing again to feed the meth craving. But she's so sweet......we should forgive her and give her another chance. (For all the Sheldon Coopers out there, that last line was SARCASM.)

PermalinkSo let me get this straight, at first, you thought she'd get off with probation, then, when they sentence her to some prison time, you still feel like it's not enough and take it one step further, playing Nostradamus of San Angelo Live, giving her no chance for success in the future. Well, her chances won't be improved any with that mentality surrounding her I'm sure.
If you aren't building a person up, you may be tearing them down, tell me again what you want to see happen to those who've made those poor choices? Throw them into a system that regurgitate's them right back out none the wiser and with animous for those who look upon them as you? Maybe you'll soon join this Lares on a journey of righteous indignation and social media stumping.
If you went to court, what would you use as a character witness, your own San Angelo Live rantings?

PermalinkThat's what is the unfortunate norm for imprisoned felons, regurgitated back into society, wiser in the ways of crime, and with animus for all others, whom they view as potential victims.
FYI.....I'll gladly stand behind every post I've submitted here, whether I've been wrong, or not.
You, and those with similar leanings, need to stop making excuses for those who commit terrible offenses. This gal, confronted for shoplifting, stabbed a poor guy, working for most likely minimum wage. She is supposed to pay restitution to the store, and a fine for the drugs, yet I see no compensation for the medical expenses, pain and suffering of the store clerk. Is sympathy only to be afforded to the charged or convicted?
I'll wager this lil sweetheart will see more criminal prosecution in her future, provided she survives.....
