SAN ANGELO, TX -- A 61-year-old cold case murder suspect has been transported to the Tom Green County from Lewisville, TX after a DNA match tied him to the case.
As we reported earlier, Adolph Gonzales was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the 1986 death of Dovie Dykes.
Watch San Angelo Police Department Chief Frank Carter during a news conference last week.
Her body was found inside the residence by her niece, Belle Guess. Guess told Police that Dykes had recently expressed a concern for her own safety and that she felt a man in the neighborhood was going to “get her or rape her”.
Dykes died of a heart attack during a sexual assault in her home on Culberson St.
Gonzales also lived on Culberson at the time of the crime.
Gonzales was booked into the Tom Green County jail Monday where he remains in lieu of $500,000 bond.
