Flu Outbreak Causes Winters ISD to Temporarily Close Down School

WINTERS, TX -- An outbreak of the flu has forced Winters ISD to shut down school for the remainder of the week.

Winters ISD said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that Superintendent Bruce Davis made the decision to close the schools on Thursday and Friday after an outbreak of the flu dropped attendance numbers throughout the district.

Winters Athletic Director and head football coach Matt McCarty also tweeted that Winters would not hold classes on Thursday and Friday, citing the flu as the illness.

Winters had an educational summit planned for Thursday, Jan. 31. That event will be rescheduled.

The district is planning to host their boy's and girl's basketball games against Ozona on Friday as scheduled.
