AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Senator Charles Perry, (R) SD 28, who represents San Angelo in the Texas Senate shared his committee assignments Friday.
According to a Facebook post, "Lt. Governor Dan Patrick just named me Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water and Rural Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. He also selected me to serve on the Finance Committee, the Criminal Justice Committee, and the Transportation Committee.
This is going to be an incredibly important year to address flooding, protecting water resources, unfunded liabilities, and education in Texas. Texans are looking for lasting solutions this legislative session, and I am optimistic that we are going to be successful moving forward.
I am honored to be selected to serve on the Finance Committee to help write the State's budget for the next two years. This will be an important session to direct more funds to education, fund flood mitigation efforts, deal with unfunded liabilities, fund deferred maintenance, and help retired teachers while at the same time being fiscally responsible.
I am looking forward to fight for West Texas this legislative session. I believe serving on these committees will give West Texas a strong voice as we look to keep Texas the best state in the nation to live, work, and raise a family. I want to thank Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for trusting me with these important committee assignments."
Senator Perry served in the Texas House from 2010 to 2014 and has served as state Senator from 2014 to the present. He lives in Lubbock and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.
