Police Officers and H-E-B Partner for National Blue Blood Drive

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The South Texas Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) hosted the National Blue Blood Drive at the H-E-B on Friday.

The drive was to raise donations for the San Angelo law enforcement. South Texas C.O.P.S. led by Georgianna Kennedy, wife of San Angelo Police Officer Korby Kennedy who lost his life while on duty, is partnering with Vitalant here in San Angelo to donate blood. Barbera Heckman-Sauer is the president of South Texas C.O.P.S. She retired after a 37-years as a law enforcement officer. She also a Chaplin for police, fire, and EMS.

"Unfortunately our guys need blood to many times," said Barbera Heckman-Sauer "As law enforcement appreciation day we figured this would be a great way to do it."

Law enforcement appreciation day was on Wednesday.

The Blood Mobile Truck pulled up to the H-E-B at 3301 Sherwood Way from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. and offered donors special prizes for coming in. Donors received a T-shirt, Chick Fil A Coupon, as well as 800 HERO Points that is redeemable online for $10 Amazon Gift Card. If donors were able to donate 2 pints they would receive 1800 total additional HERO points equivalent to $25 Amazon Gift Card. 

"If you weren't able to donate, there are still many ways you can help," continued Heckman-Sauer "We run 10 retreats for all of the family members, coworkers, and their spouses, so we encourage people to donate."
