Government Shutdown Not Affecting WIC in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The City of San Angelo’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program continues to operate despite the federal government shutdown. WIC is a federally funded nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. Should the continuation of the federal government shutdown threaten WIC operations, clients will be given advance notice of the impact.

San Angelo’s WIC program operates from 7 a.m.-noon and from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and by appointment from 8 a.m.-noon on the first Saturday of the month. Its offices are located on the first floor of the Community Development Building, 52 W. College Ave., adjacent to City Hall. The WIC program also operates satellite locations at Goodfellow Air Force Base and in Ballinger and Coleman. All offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.
