Major Water Main Break at Tyler Street and W. Avenue J

A major water main break on Tyler Street this morning has City crews working on Saturday to attempt to isolate the source and fix the pipe. According to workers at the scene, the line break was reported at 6 a.m. Saturday morning near the intersection of Tyler Street and W. Avenue J. They’ve been working on the emergency situation since early this morning.

Isolating the source of the leak has been a challenge. Already, some water lines have been shut off as City crews attempt to isolate where the gusher is originating.

City workers said it is not determined at this time (10 a.m. Saturday) how many City water customers will be affected. They indicated that this will likely be an all-day job.

Thousands of gallons wasted every time a water line breaks. Why not have pump trucks pump up some of this water into tank trucks and at least use it for watering parks, soccer fields etc.? It seems like such a waste to have it all run down the street doing absolutely nothing but evaporate.
