SAN ANGELO,TX-- A suspected drunk woman was arrested after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase through northern Tom Green County and San Angelo.
The Tom Green County Sheriff's Department was patrolling when they spotted a white Dodge truck driving recklessly on Wednesday.
The deputy attempted to pull over 51-year-old Teresa Grothe at F.M 2105 and Grape Creek Rd. When the deputy turned his emergency lights on, Grothe accelerated and was swerving in and out of the lanes.
The truck reached speeds of 90 mph of US 87, and proceeded down Beaumont St. She then made it to 14th street, but when she tried to turn on Marshall St. she lost control of the vehicle.
The deputy then demanded Grothe to place her hands out the window, and at first she complied but then decided to try and continue the chase. She put the white Dodge Dakota in reverse and slammed into the deputies car. Luckily the deputy was in his vehicle so no one was hurt.
He then got out of his vehicle and apprehended Grothe. She was charged with evading arrest detention with vehicle or watercraft, and driving while intoxicated. This is her second DWI charge according to records.
Grothe refused to stop because she believed that she did not break the law, but she did admit to being under the influence of alcohol and multiple medications.
