SAN ANGELO, TX -- 51st District Judge Barbara Walther swore in her replacement Friday afternoon in the Tom Green County Courthouse in front of a overflowing, standing room only crowd.
Carmen Dusek was appointed 51st District Judge by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Nov. 12.
District Judges Ben Woodward, Jay Weatherby, and Brad Goodwin were joined by County Court-at-Law Judge Ben Nolen, Justices of the Peace Susan Werner and Eddie Howard and County Judge Steve Floyd to witness the ceremony.
Senior Appellant Judge Marilyn Aboussie presided over the ceremony.

Dusek said she was proud to have worked as an attorney with her father, Clint Syms, and to have worked with Judge Aboussie.
Judge Dusek will begin hearing cases at 9 a.m. Monday morning. Judge Walther has taken senior status and will still hear cases in the 51st Judicial District.
Normally, cameras are not allowed in the Tom Green County Courthouse but the District Judges made an exception for the ceremony.
Dusek will serve as 51st District Judge for the remainder of Judge Walther's term. Dusek will have to run for the office in the March 2020 primary along with the other three district judges headquartered in Tom Green County.
