The Tom Green County Jail saw a high influx of new inmates on Thursday, when 48 inmates were put behind bars, more than double the average for the rest of the week. The vast majority, however, weren't booked on new crimes, rather on various warrants, many of which stem from indictments.
Theft, alcohol and drugs accounted for the largest bulk of the charges. Seven were jailed for theft, fice for possession, five for pot, four for public intoxication and three for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
One inmate apiece was booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, assault, forgery, abandoning/endangering a chld, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Thirty inmates were released on Thursday.
