Mother Charged with Capital Murder in the Death of Her Own Child

BROWNWOOD, TX-- A Woman in Brownwood was charged with capital murder after her 2-year-old died according to court documents.

Vanessa Nicole Narvaez, 21, called the police and reported that her child had a head injury. The child was then taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he was first listed in critical condition.

KTXS is reporting the 2-year-old then was airlifted to the Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth where he later passed away during surgery.

Narvaez told police what caused the injuries but the stories were not consistent with the injuries. 

Narvaez was charged with capital murder of a person under 10 years of age and is currently being held in the Brown County Jail without bond.

The murder is being investigated by the Brownwood Police Department, Texas Rangers, and Child Protective Services.
