H-E-B Feast of Sharing Will Feed Thousands For Free Sunday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- H-E-B will feed thousands of turkey and dressing dinners for free at the Wells Fargo Pavilion Sunday. 

According to H-E-B, the event kicked off on Wednesday with Meals for the Elderly partnering with H-E-B to deliver 750 meals to homebound seniors across San Angelo.

Volunteers started at 10 a.m. by preparing meals to be delivered to the elderly at Meals for the Elderly.

The 22nd annual Feast of Sharing in San Angelo serves meals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Again this year they will have live entertainment and the City of San Angelo will provide free bus rides from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to and from the Feast of Sharing. 

Organizers expect to feed more than 5,000 during the event. 

Founded in 1989, the H-E-B Feast of Sharing dinners are an important part of the H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger in Texas and Mexico.

The annual holiday feast includes more than 250,000 meals served during 30 dinners held throughout Texas and Mexico.

According to the H-E-B website,  the Texas grocery store chain holds Feast of Sharing events in 24 cities across Texas. 

The average Feast of Sharing holiday dinner serves 3,000 pounds of sliced turkey, 2,500 pounds of cornbread dressing, 750 pumpkin pies, 380 gallons of mashed potatoes, and 140 gallons of turkey gravy. 

The free meal is served by hundreds of volunteers.
