BRADY, TX-- The Veribest Lady Falcons kicked off their postseason run with an impressive sweep of the Evant Lady Elks on Monday.
Veribest won 25-20, 25-13 and 25-15 for the Bi-District championship.
In the first set, Evant used a 3-0 run to jump out early. Veribest tied it at three but still couldn’t take the lead.
Late in the first, Veribest found a way to take the lead behind the attacks of Alyssa Robles, Abby Taylor, Katelynn Salvato and Kameron Salvato.
In the second, Veribest made sure to jump on the set early, going on an 11-3 run to start. At Evant’s second timeout, the Lady Falcons held a 20-12 lead. The Lady Falcons then went on a 5-1 run to close out the set.
The Lady Elks showed fight early on in the third set after another 3-0 run by Veribest. Evant went on a 6-0 run for their first lead since the first set.
Veribest found momentum once again with a 6-2 run to go up 9-8. From their the Lady Falcons went on a 6-1 run to take a commanding lead.
Alyssa Robles would finish off the match with a kill up the line for Veribest to advance to the Area round later this week.
Veribest (30-7) will face Benjamin in Clyde this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for that match.
