SAPD Dispels Social Media Rumors Regarding Central High School Threat

SAN ANGELO, TX-- A social media post was going around last night and people believed it was a threat being made to Central High School in San Angelo.

Instead, San Angelo Police say parents and students have nothing to fear because the original post was not directed at the Central campus.

In fact, the post was from the spring of 2018 at Clovis High School in New Mexico.

"[B]ecause one of the captions mentioned “CHS” the post has spread to several communities extending beyond New Mexico," SAPD said on their Facebook page. "The New Mexico teen accused of making that Snapchat post was arrested."

SAPD went on to say they are "committed to the close partnership it has with local school officials." Because of that relationship, SAPD thoroughly investigates each threat "regardless if it is made fictitiously."
