SAN ANGELO, TX -- Do you know who you are? Begin your discovery at the Genealogy Fair, October 2, 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Stephens Central Library in downtown San Angelo.
According to a press release, with dozens of historical exhibits and genealogical website demonstrations, the Genealogical Fair guarantees exciting opportunities for interacting with a wide variety of historical and genealogical organizations and enthusiasts. The San Angelo Genealogical and Historical Society will also be giving away over $1,300 in door prizes, including two DNA kits. Hosted by the San Angelo Genealogical Society and sponsored by the Tom Green County Library, the Genealogy Fair is free and open to all who are interested in discovering more about local and family history.
Attendees can learn recent advances about using DNA in genealogy and SAGHS genealogists will help new family historians get started on their family trees and learn how to navigate online genealogy databases. The Tom Green County Library will host an exhibit featuring the free research tools that they offer genealogists. The West Texas Collection will have information about their genealogy library and historical collections.
Both local and state-wide groups such as the Texas State Genealogical Society, Fort Concho, Fort McKavett, the Tom Green Historical Commission, the Railroad Museum, the Concho Valley Archaeology Society, the Texas General Land Office and many more will host fascinating displays of interest to historians. Lineage societies like Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons and Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and many more will share about their organizations.
