Suspect Arrested After Brady Woman’s Throat Cut

BRADY, TX -- At approximately 4:20 Monday afternoon, Brady Police officers responded to the 200 Block of East Lockhart in reference to an unknown type of disturbance.  According to a press release, while still responding to the location, dispatch advised that the female victim had stated she had been “cut with a knife” and was injured.

Upon arrival, the officers were able to locate the female victim and immediately observed an approximately four inch long laceration, ranging from the left side of the throat all the way to the right side, stopping just before the carotid artery.  While one officer applied direct pressure to the wound, another identified the suspect as 21-year-old Kent Beckett of Brady and began to conduct a preliminary interview at the scene.

Statements taken from the victim and suspect provided enough probable cause to arrest Beckett and he was taken into custody.  Brady EMS responded and treated the victim’s laceration before finally transporting her to the Heart of Texas Medical Center for further treatment and observation.  Beckett was transported to the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked and jailed pending arraignment by a magistrate.

Beckett is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
