Brown County Felon Arrested After Domestic Dispute Call Yields Discovery of 3 Firearms

BROWN COUNTY, TX-- Brown County Sheriff's Deputies were forced to arrest a 22-year-old man after a Thursday domestic violence call prompted a law enforcement presence.

KTXS News reports deputies were dispatched to a home near Thunderbird Bay on Lake Brownwood around 2 p.m. for a domestic dispute. That's where the suspect, Travler John Roberson, lived, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The female caller reportedly wanted law enforcement at the home because she feared Roberson would get into an altercation with the man helping her move out of the home.

She also told authorities Roberson was on probation and that he had a handgun earlier in the week. Roberson was then confronted by police and confirmed he was on probation and was in possession of two firearms, a .22 caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Deputies searched the closet where Roberson kept the guns to make sure they were secure and unaccessible to anyone else, according to the report.

However, Roberson was still arrested and booked on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Roberson was then asked about the handgun. He told authorities that he took it to his uncle's house.

After speaking with Roberson's probation officer, deputies learned there was a search clause in his terms of probation.

A search of Roberson's house brought the discovery of a semi-automatic .45 caliber pistol.

Roberson was transported to the Brown County Jail.

He posted his $1,500 bond on Friday, according to jail records.
