SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service Office in San Angelo has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Tom Green County, Southwestern Runnels County and Western Concho County in west central Texas.
At 11:34 a.m. doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.
The NWS says some locations that will experience flooding include... San Angelo, Christoval, Miles, Lowake, Wall, Orient, San Angelo State Park, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Grape Creek, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Mereta, Carlsbad, Veribest, Knickerbocker, O.c. Fisher Reservoir, Vancourt, Lake Nasworthy, Tankersley, Eola and Rowena.

A large area of scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to drifting slowly to the north across West Central Texas. The heaviest showers are currently impacting the Concho Valley, Heartland, and southern Big Country. Additional rainfall amounts of a quarter of an inch to an inch will be possible, with isolated higher amounts of greater than one inch in the heavier showers and thunderstorms. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning will also occur with these storms.
Very heavy rains and localized flash flooding is possible today, tonight and Monday. A few rounds of showers and thunderstorms with increasing coverage and very heavy rain are expected to begin today and continue through Monday.

The area of most concern is along and south of a line from Ozona to San Angelo to Brownwood. Rainfall amounts across much of West Central Texas are forecast to be between 1 and 3 inches with isolated higher totals possible. It is important to remember that very heavy rain can result in flash flooding of low water crossings and low lying areas.
