Odessa Police Warning Citizens About IRS Scam

ODESSA, TX -- (Press Release) The Odessa Police Department has recently received complaints in reference to a scam involving the Internal Revenue Service.

Citizens have reported receiving calls from someone stating that they owe the IRS unpaid income taxes and that they need to pay the Internal Revenue Service or else a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

Odessa Police would like to remind the public that should someone receive a phone call, email, or text message from anyone claiming to work for the Internal Revenue Service to please not pay any money or provide any personal information.

Instead citizens are encouraged to contact the Internal Revenue Service directly at 1-800-829-1040 or online at www.tigta.gov to inquire about any possible debts owed.
