SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) The annual State of the City address will be more public than ever this year as the event, featuring Mayor Brenda Gunter, moves to the Murphey Performance Hall in historic City Auditorium.
A free event, the State of the City will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7. The public is invited. City Auditorium is located inside City Hall, 72 W. College Ave.
Attendees will hear from Mayor Gunter, who recently completed the first year of her four-year term. She will talk about issues of interest, impact and importance to citizens, including water supply, street reconstruction, public safety and economic development. She, City Manager Daniel Valenzuela and City directors will be available during and after the event to answer citizens’ questions.
“We invite our community to come take advantage of this opportunity to learn about the issues San Angelo cares most about from the public servants who are in a position to influence those concerns,” Gunter said. “We also want this to be a dialogue with our citizens. We’re hoping for lots of engagement on the evening of August 7.”
Following the program on the stage of the Murphey Performance Hall, tables manned by City officials and featuring information about City departments will be set up in the lobby and east mezzanine of City Hall. Other members of the City Council will be in attendance and available to talk to constituents.
Refreshments will also be served.
The event will also be an opportunity for taxpayers who have not yet visited City Auditorium to see the renovated space since it reopened last year.
