SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) SAISD is extremely proud to announce several new director hires in the district.
Hestroverto “Nick” Martinez will be the new Director of Transportation. Mr. Martinez comes to San Angelo ISD from Edgewood ISD in San Antonio where he was the Senior Executive Director of Operations. In addition to his experience in school business leadership at three different Texas public school districts, Mr. Martinez also has an extensive background in the US Air Force where he served until 2014. He replaces Roger Garcia who retires after 37 years of service with SAISD.
In our ongoing efforts to address safety and security concerns, Monte Althaus has been named the new Director of Campus Operations and Safe Environments. In his new role, Mr. Althaus will work closely with all SAISD campuses to monitor and address safety concerns in order to implement safe, secure, and healthy environment for students and staff. Mr. Althaus has a wealth of experience with SAISD and was recently the principal at Lake View High School. He possesses a keen understanding of safety needs at the campus level.
Rebecca Cline has been named the new Director of Assessment and Counseling. Mrs. Cline has spent her entire career in SAISD beginning as a teacher in 1998, then transitioning to a counselor in 2007 and most recently she was an assistant principal at Lincoln Middle School here in San Angelo. Mrs. Cline replaces Libby Probandt who retired from the district after 29 years.
Michelle Helms has been named the new Director of Child Nutrition. Mrs. Helms comes to San Angelo ISD from Midland ISD where she held the same title. Helms has more than 20 years of leadership experience in school nutrition. Prior to her 9 years with Midland ISD, Helms held the same title in Brownwood & Galena Park ISDs. She replaces Kim Carter who is retiring after 23 years of service with SAISD.
Mr. Althaus has been serving in his new role since the beginning of June. The other leaders began their new roles in SAISD in July. We congratulate each of them on their new appointments as we continue to prepare for the 2018-19 school year.
