SAN ANGELO, TX -- A San Angelo man was sentenced to three years in state prison Monday after taking a plea deal for threatening to stab his brother in a north San Angelo home in 2017.
46-year-old Manuel Deleon Morales pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Monday. According to court documents, Morales and his brother were arguing in the living room of a residence in May of 2017. Witnesses say Morales left the living room and went into the kitchen. He returned carrying three knives and threatened to stab his brother.
Police were called to the residence and Morales was arrested.
Morales’ defense attorney Brian Raymond reached the plea agreement with the District Attorney’s office. Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is a second degree felony and is punishable by two to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000 and restitution.
District Judge Brad Goodwin accepted the plea deal and sentenced Morales to three years in prison with credit for time served. Morales has spent about five months in custody so he has approximately two years and seven months left on his sentence.
