SAN ANGELO, TX -- Reagan James Holland was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault and burglary of a habitation when he walked into District Court on Wednesday. All three charges are felonies.
The 27-year-old was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury on the three felony counts following the burglary attempt in February 2017 where he entered a home without consent intending to commit aggravated assault. That charge is a first degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Holland was also indicted burglary of a habitation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for brandishing a gun during the incident which is punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Prosecutors and defense attorney Randol Stout Jr. reached a plea deal which dropped the first degree felony and the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in exchange for Holland’s guilty plea to second degree felony burglary of a habitation. The punishment range is two to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
Judge Ben Woodward accepted the plea deal which sentenced Holland to five years in prison with time served. Holland has spent one year and four months in the Tom Green County Jail which means he has three years and eight months left on his sentence.
